Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: STEREO A
Event Time: 2024-10-28T16:58Z ( STEREO A: IMPACT )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
STEREO A: IMPACT
STEREO A: PLASTIC
Activity ID: 2024-10-28T16:58:00-IPS-001 (version 1)
Quality of ICME Signature: 1 (lacks some signatures)
Note: Characterized by a jump in Bt from 12nT->28nT, with some southward swings in Bz as low as -24nT but not sustained, swinging northward and southward as the signature played out. Solar wind speed data is sparse at STEREO A, but a clear increase in the initial beacon data is observed at this time without a clear average speed, from a baseline around 400 km/s. This is likely attributed to the arrival of CME 2024-10-26T06:48Z, which was also observed at L1 by DSCOVR at 2024-10-28T04:13Z, but analysis is still ongoing.
